The fridge is pretty bare today as we don’t get our farm shop order until Saturday this week. Kev is painting our coat cupboard where the electricians have finished the new consumer unit and making the six stools ready for Christmas Day so not wanting to venture out I turned to the tins and jars for a quick solution for lunch. It takes longer to wash the processor than it does to make this Quick Hummus!

200g/7oz canned chickpeas
2 tbsp lemon juice
3 sliced garlic cloves
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp sea salt flakes
100ml tahini
4 tbsp water
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika

1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Keep a few whole chick peas for serving.
2. Blitz the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, tahini, and water in a food processor.

3. Add more salt, garlic or lemon to taste and serve drizzled with extra oil and the whole chickpeas.

4. Sprinkle with paprika and serve with crackers or pitta bread.
